Fonseca Bin No. 27 was created over a century ago for family consumption, and only released commercially in 1972. It is produced primarily from wines from Fonseca's own quintas in the Cima Corgo and thus shows an exceptional quality and consistency from year to year. My favorite cheap ruby port. Always great after dinner. Especially on a cold night!

Started out good, but it faded pretty quickly.

This stuff is great and in many cases nearly as good as a vintage bottle. When dining out, I will usually go for a glass of Bin 27 or LBV over a vintage port unless I am sure the bar just opened a bottle from a good vintage or has a good wine preservation system because the complex notes present in an expensive vintage port fade quickly.

Blended from reserve wines selected for their intense fruit character and depth of color, Fonseca Bin No. 27 is perfectly structured. Its rich, full body and luscious blackcurrant and cherry flavors, also evident in the nose, carry into an intense, lingering finish.
