Folie à Deux has blossomed since coming under the Trinchero family umbrella in 2004. Under Bob Trinchero, the proprietor of several renowned California wineries, the quality at Folie à Deux has skyrocketed. Now they're sourcing Pinot Noir from the elite Sonoma Coast AVA. Prime, cool climate vineyards where Pinot Noir develops complex depth of flavor over a long, slow growing season are tapped for this 2012. The grapes are destemmed and stainless steel fermented. The wine is then aged in 26% new oak barrels, primarily French for 8 months. It shows deep concentration with intense aromas of strawberry jam, dark cherry and graham cracker followed by subtle hints of toasted spice. Textured, with briary fruit, toffee and notes of baked cherry on the palate. The finish is long and smooth and structured. A tremendous value for Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.
