Folie a Deux winery is located in the heart of Napa Valley right on Highway 29. It was founded in 1981 by two psychiatrists, who took the name from a psychiatric term for a fantasy shared by two people. It quickly gained a reputation for solid Napa Valley wines at good prices. Since the Trinchero family took over in 2004 the the estate has blossomed with the introduction of the Menage a Trois line, now the top selling red wine in the U.S. The is Merlot is sourced from the Trinchero's extensive vineyard holdings throughout Napa Valley.
Winemaker's Notes:
The aromas of this deep ruby red, full bodied merlot is redolent of blueberry, Bing cherry, cocoa and black tea. The aromas follow through to the palate accompanied by medium plus acidity and nuances of the telltale mineral called "Rutherford Dust". Mouth-filling texture with a lasting finish.
