Folie a Deux Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"Seductive, complex aromas of honey, green apple, tropical fruits, vanilla and baking bread introduce juicy apple, pineapple and tropical fruit flavors with light butter notes from partial malolactic fermentation and crisp balancing acidity. he Russian River Valley AVA is located in the heart of Sonoma County. Its key climatic feature is cooling fog from the Pacific Ocean, just a few miles to the west, which reduces temperatures by 35–40 degrees at night, fostering a long, even growing season. This is ideal for Chardonnay, which ripens slowly in the Russian River Valley and develops intense varietal flavors while retaining vibrant acidity. The region’s wide range of alluvial soils, composed primarily of gravel, loam and sand, is also favorable for Chardonnay, providing essential water drainage while retaining sufficient moisture and nutrients to nurture the vines during the appellation’s long growing season." -Winery
