Foley Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Foley Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills 2005 : WINE ADVOCATE REVIEW: 89 POINTS The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Pinot Noir Rancho Santa Rosa offers sweet cherry fruit, spicy wood, and underbrush characteristics in its medium to full-bodied personality. Supple, with good acidity as well as velvety tannin, it is best consumed over the next 5-7 years. WA # , #172 (Aug 2007) Drink 2007 - 2014 Robert Parker WINEMAKER NOTES: Deep garnet in color with purple highlights, the Rancho Santa Rosa Pinot Noir has aromas of black cherry, blackberry and blueberry. There are also earth notes of mushroom, black tea and smoked meats. There is some tannin, but it is well integrated in this plump, mouth-filling wine. Drink now, or hang onto it for five to ten years, if you prefer. FOLEY PINOT NOIR SANTA RITA HILLS 2005

A historic parcel located in the Sta. (Santa) Rita Hills region of the Santa Ynez Valley, Rancho Santa Rosa was formerly a thoroughbred horse ranch. In 1998, the 460-acre property was purchased and planted to 230 acres of vineyard. Devoted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, the vineyard has been subdivided into 59 micro-blocks with each being farmed, harvested and vinified separately. The handsome stables have been refurbished to house the winery, with tremendous detail going into the planning of a modern facility, while honoring age-old winemaking tradition. Read less
