Foley Estates Vineyard and Winery Chardonnay Rancho Santa Rosa 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The initial scents of butter and toast give way to pineapple, white peaches, pears, nutmeg, vanilla and slate. On the palate the flavors are full, powerful and commanding. The finish is long and firm with traces of oak spice and minerals. The finish is lively thanks to the wine's low pH and firm acidity. It has enough body to stand up to a wide array of foods and the balance to drink well on its own.

Foley Estates Vineyard & Winery at Rancho Santa Rosa is the realization of vintner Bill Foley's dream to produce world class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara County. A historic parcel located in the Sta. (Santa) Rita Hills region of the Santa Ynez Valley, Rancho Santa Rosa was formerly a thoroughbred horse ranch. In 1998, the 460-acre property was purchased and planted to 230 acres of vineyard. Devoted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, the vineyard has been subdivided into 59 micro-blocks with each being farmed, harvested and vinified separately. The handsome stables have been refurbished to house the winery, with tremendous detail going into the planning of a modern facility, while honoring age-old winemaking tradition. Read less

Cool on the nose with a floral top note and precise aromas of almond shells, pineapple peels and candied Clementine. Very nicely balanced on entry with wonderful freshness to the decidedly ripe array of flavors. This richly textured wine offers up lovely, deep lemon curd and lime oil flavors over a base of slightly spicy mineral accents. The finish is firm and fairly long with a floral flourish on the finale. 90pts

Signature mineral aromatics, with fruit notes of lime zest and lemon curd. Having not been put through malolactic fermentation or aging in oak barrels, the wine has a lively acidity and great structure. This wine is a perfect pairing with any light & fresh cuisine.

Clean, intense and vibrant, with snappy citrus, green apple, pear, honeysuckle and spice notes. Full-bodied, ending with a dash of mineral. Drink now through 2015. 2,345 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2009 Foley Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay Steel 750ml
