Flying Fish Riesling 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Stemmy and fresh on the nose with incipient diesel aromas and layers of slightly funky, spicy dried lime and passion fruit shells. Light and freshly textured. Candied on the palate with an almost butterscotch note to the overripe peach fruit. This turns a bit cloying on the back end and finishes on the sweet side. Easy to drink for a wine this sweet. 83pts

The reds, particularly Cabernet Merlot and Shiraz have been successful in winning a number of medals and awards including a place as a finalist for the coveted Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy in both 2006 and 2007. Our entries into the Perth Royal Wine Show brought us the 'Most Successful Exhibitor - under 300 tonne' trophy for both 2005 and 2007. We are also home to 'The Young Winemaker of the Year 2009 for Australia and New Zealand' - Ryan Aggiss. Flying Fish Cove winery is situated 25km north of the Margaret river town site, along Caves Road in the renowed Wilyabrup area. Next door to the winery is 'Wildberry Estate', the Flying Fish Cove vineyard - consisting of 25 hectares of vines planted in 1997 by several of our shareholders. In 2000 a group of 20 grape growers in the region invested in the construction of the Flying Fish Cove winery, which carried out its first vintage in 2001. In 2009 it fully processed 23,000 cases. Meatier, earthier smell. Something funky here. Musty? Cheesy?
