As nursery owners in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Walt and Joan Flowers had long dreamed of combining their love of wine with their passion for agriculture. They knew they wanted to produce their favorite varietals, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; what they didn't know was that their path would eventually lead them across country to Northern California's rugged Sonoma Coast. After responding to a small classified ad in a national wine publication, that's exactly where they landed. In 1989, after many information-gathering trips to Napa and Sonoma, Walt and Joan purchased 321 acres, including a ridge top, high above the Pacific Ocean on the northern Sonoma Coast. With the same determination they drew on to build their successful nursery business; the Flowers proceeded with the dream of producing their favorite cool-climate varietals in a place they believed uniquely suited to growing them. Today, Flowers Winery produces 15,000 cases of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from its two estate properties, Camp Meeting Ridge and Flowers Ranch, as well as select vineyards in the coolest regions of the Sonoma Coast AVA, which are farmed to Flowers' specifications by their own crews. In addition to direct consumer sales, the wines are sold to fine restaurants and retailers in the US and overseas. Read less

Wine has really evolvd more sublte tannins. Rounder with more balanced acidity. I forgot how Burgundian it feels; poorly paired with a spicy dish

[Crab and Fin, LBK] Higlhy acidic, bold red fruit, black cherry, cranberry; more burgundian than standard Cali PN, but not restrainted. Very nice would definitely purchase again at this price.

Kistler PN is probably very good. I typically do not pay more than $20-$25 for a bottle of wine. There are many Pinot Noirs that are very over priced and the market will eventually sort them out. The trick is finding the good PN under $20. The best I have found is La Crema.

The 2003 Pinot Noir Cuvee Catherine has a ruby/purple color, a big, ripe, framboise and currant fruit nose with some floral notes, forest floor, and a touch of new oak. The wine has great purity, medium to full body, and a long finish with good acidi... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Mature, with dried cherry, plum and cedary oak flavors. The anise and fruit flavors are appealing, yet it ends with a tannic aftertaste. Drink now. 2,048 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2003 Kistler Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 750ml

In this case, I preferred the Cuvee Catherine to the 2003 Pinot Noir Cuvee Elizabeth, which reveals raspberry, pomegranate, cherry, and plum notes, crisp, tart acidity, some flowery characteristics, a lovely, medium-bodied mid-palate, and a good fini... The Burgundian 2003 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard shows a low pH style with high acidity, crisp, red currant, cranberry notes with a hint of rose petal and strawberry. The spicy, earthy 2003 Pinot Noir Camp Meeting Ridge offers up hints of cinnamon, herbs, and new oak. In the mouth, notions of sassafras, plums, cherries, and allspice emerge. Medium-bodied with an adequate finish, it can be enjoyed over the next 4-5 years.
