As nursery owners in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Walt and Joan Flowers had long dreamed of combining their love of wine with their passion for agriculture. They knew they wanted to produce their favorite varietals, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; what they didn't know was that their path would eventually lead them across country to Northern California's rugged Sonoma Coast. After responding to a small classified ad in a national wine publication, that's exactly where they landed. In 1989, after many information-gathering trips to Napa and Sonoma, Walt and Joan purchased 321 acres, including a ridge top, high above the Pacific Ocean on the northern Sonoma Coast. With the same determination they drew on to build their successful nursery business; the Flowers proceeded with the dream of producing their favorite cool-climate varietals in a place they believed uniquely suited to growing them. Today, Flowers Winery produces 15,000 cases of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from its two estate properties, Camp Meeting Ridge and Flowers Ranch, as well as select vineyards in the coolest regions of the Sonoma Coast AVA, which are farmed to Flowers' specifications by their own crews. In addition to direct consumer sales, the wines are sold to fine restaurants and retailers in the US and overseas. Read less

Light color. Muted nose. A bit short with a chalky aftertaste.

This was amazing. Seriously amazing. The flavors are beyond fantastic as they blend together. And for under 40 a bottle.... seriously wonderful. Not as meaty as cab but it certainly can hold its own.

One of the better Flowers Pinots I've had in a while. Aromas of raspberries, cherries, orange peel and allspice. As the wine opens up it gains more spice.

Great pinot but could have waited a little longer. Was a bit stinky when first opened but changed after breathing for a while. Great with food.

A beautiful example of the new-style California Pinot Noirs from Sonoma Coast. Fruit-forward with lots of red and blackberries and red plums. Waves of flavor continue including lavander and sweet vanilla. Soft, integrated tannins and structure from barrel-aging resulting in a well balanced and complex wine.

`When this wine is freshly opened oak accents its pungent spice while the silken cherry fruit is submerged below. Tasted a day later the pointedly red fruit lasts far beyond the oak and its tannin with a lingering perfume. This needs several years of age to show its best with rare prime rib.` (04/09) One star from the Connoisseur's Guide to California Wine: `Grown practically within spitting distance of the Pacific Ocean out in western Sonoma County this wine demonstrates again the high potential of the area as well as the tighter line that such wines can achieve. With its ripe cherry prime focus and a touch of pert cherry juice for brightness this fairly full-bodied wine is solidly varietal if just a touch lean at this point. Like many of its mates from the same year it deserves a bit of patience.` 92 points from Wine and Spirits Magazine.

92 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide"Taut and nervy aromas of Pippin apples backed up by sweeter wisps of Gala apple perfumes are filled out handsomely by quiet but intriguing notes of chalk and other minerals as well as a mild but evident dollop of creme brulee oak. If this wine's first notes hint at limits, its succeeding impressions convince that there are both depth aplenty and impeccable balance here. Admittedly, you will need to be a fan of firm, crisp Chardonnays, and, if so, this one comes straight up your alley."92 Points - Wine & Spirits"When this wine is freshly opened, oak accents its pungent spice, while the silken cherry fruit is submerged below. Aromas and flavors of raspberry, cherry and red plum with hints of mineral, dried herbs and orange blossom. Rich & well balanced in the mouth. Ample, elegant structure and lively acidity. Long supple tannins. Drink over the next 3 years."

Wine Tasting NotesDeep, ruby color. Fruit aromas of Queen Anne cherry, blackberry and red plum are followed by hints of leather, sarsaparilla root and vanillin tones from barrel aging. This Andreen-Gale expresses the richness and balance of coastal fruit from our estate vineyards. Long supple tannins on the palate are spreading and delicious. Enjoy over the next 3 years.
