What to Expect

The classic Bordeaux blends rely on either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon for the bulk of the wine with additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec helping to add complexity, color, body and structure to the finished wine.

Winemakers Notes

Flora Springs has built its legacy on beautiful and complex wines that can be enjoyed either as young and vibrant or as cellared and graceful. The 2005 Trilogy may be our boldest statement yet. It exhibits all the classic Trilogy attributes with a lovely cassis and cherry bouquet as well as huge black fruit flavors that envelope the palate. Each varietal is vital to the outcome - the Cabernet exhibits black cherry and dark cocoa character, while the Merlot carries these flavors to the back of the palate where the Cabernet Franc adds notes of coffee and toffee to the finish. Editorial Reviews

Such a seductive mouthfeel with a layered lushness that envelopes the mouth with rich vanilla, cocoa, blackberry and black cherry and a slight licorice tone. . This finishes with a long smoky note and hints of peppercorn, spice and cigar box and just a whisper of green herb. This is well put together and while surprisingly soft today has the balance and intensity to improve for a decade. 2010 - 2018 92pts

93 POINTS - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, December 28, 2007

“The vintage is exemplified beautifully by the 2005 Trilogy. This is a superb example of this proprietary red. Beautiful deep red, blue, and black gruits all intermingle with some crushed rock, lavender, and spice box in a very scented bouquet. In the mouth, it is layered, medium to full-bodied, with sweet tannin, gorgeous purity, and length. This is a stunning wine that should drink nicely for 15 or more years.”

Nick's Pick! - Rich fruit but not too cloying, rather the 2005 Trilogy displays a balanced approach of fruit to acidity, creating a very elegant mouthfeel. Impressively smooth. Lingers for more than 10 seconds on the finish. Perhaps best of all, the integration of wood lends some structure, spice box components as well as vanilla without being distractingly dry nor tight. This well made cuvee should age nicely however, by using a decanter or an aerator there is no reason you cannot enjoy this beauty right now!!!
