What to Expect

The Gamay grape finds it's home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice.

Winemakers Notes

Cédric Chignard is now pretty much completely in charge of the vinification atthis famous old Estate. He experiments a little with cement and oak forfermentation and then ages the various cuvées for differing lengths oftime; fundamentally, however, this is as it has always been, one of the bestwines from this poetic and beautifully located appellation. Raspberry,hedgerow, gentle spice and an almost ethereal elegance, as far as it ispossible to be from the madding crowds of a confected Beaujolais.
