Fleurie les Moriers Domaine Chignard 95js 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

95 Points, James Suckling: "Aromas of black cherries and blueberries in addition to violets and granite. This is very structured with tension and polished tannins. Wonderful length and finesse. Try in 2020." 2/17 93 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous: "Deep ruby. High-pitched red berry, spicecake and floral scents are complemented by deeper suggestions of cherry pit and licorice. Taut and sharply focused on entry, offering palate-staining bitter cherry and raspberry flavors that flesh out and turn sweeter with aeration. Silky tannins add gentle grip to the finish, which hangs with very impressive, subtly spicy tenacity. The interplay of power and elegance here is quite something." 1/17 91 Points, Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Fleurie les Moriers has a similar bouquet to the 2014 but with a little more intensity. This springs out of the glass whereas the previous vintage needed more coaxing. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit on the entry. I like the cohesion and focus here, demonstrating fine structure for a Fleurie, almost Morgon-like on the finish. This is a superb follow-up to the impressive 2014...Cédric has done a great job with the 2015s, especially with his strongest card, the Fleurie, whereby he manages to obtain great structure while keeping the femininity and charm one associates with that Beaujolais AC." 8/16 #226
