Georges and Franck Dubœuf have made a thorough selection of wines from Burgundy, the Rhône Valley, Bordeaux, the Loire and Languedoc, while giving champagne the prestigious pride of place it deserves. Bruno Vertut and Alain Beaurin, who staff the cellar, deliver specific advice recommending combinations of wine and food, making the most of a customer’s budget or suggesting new discoveries. A neat blend of refinement and relaxation make this a cellar for both ordinary wine-lovers and connoisseurs. Dubœuf, rue Marbeuf, a cellar like every cellar should be, where you quite simply find good bottles at the nicest price, together with the pleasure of getting sound and considerate advice. Georges and Franck Dubœuf have won recognition for their expertise in the art of wine tasting and selection, a perfect illustration of which is their cellar, just off the Champs Élysées. More than anything else, their one wish is to perpetuate, on Rue Marbeuf, one of the capital’s most Parisian shopping streets, a product marked by trade-mark simplicity and excellent value for money. This is where you find the best of the wine range from Georges Dubœuf. Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages rub shoulders with the 10 Beaujolais vintages of Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Chénas, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Régnié and Saint-Amour. Plus the Mâcon appellations of Mâcon, Viré-Clessé, Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint Véran. Whether fruity or flowery, lively or potent, for immediate opening or for long stays in a cellar, they all illustrate to perfection their Beaujolais, Mâcon and Burgundy identity. Read less

This was the first year I was able to participate in the excitement that is Beaujolais Nouveau. I haven't been able to go to the store to select some wines myself but I was able to try a glass of this wine at a friend's house. It was served slightly chilled. I was able to pull out sweet cherry and currant tastes from this Nouveau. I was surprised by how drinkable and enjoyable this wine is. I think it is a fun wine to be enjoyed with a group of good friends and conversation. You won't be disappointed.

After waiting until February of this year to try last year's Beaujolais Nouveau, this year I decided to go out on release day and pick up a bottle of Nouveau. I served this wine slightly chilled. Bright purplish red color. Definite banana and tropical fruit on the nose. In the mouth I taste some raspberry and cherry. A light, easygoing wine that I venture to say just about anyone could enjoy.

As a white wine drinker this is a red that I could drink. Not quite fruity enough for me but the tannins were soft and it had a soft finish but with a little sour note.

already 'better' than the Laboure-Roi, but not easy to drink... the best part is the bottle!

Bitter and hot with a slight carmel and cotton candy nose. A faulted wine that I would not recommend. It get worse as it evolves in the glass.

Heavy on the cherry. Perhaps a tad more acidic than I'd like. Nowhere near as bright and fruity as I remember last year's being. That said, I like this much more than other Nouveau I've had so far this year. If you're going Nouveau, this would be the one I'd grab.

decanted 3 hours, strawberry-banana perfume on the nose with notes of cherry, concentrated medium full body with notes of orange rind and leather, nice stonefruit finish.

Von tiefem Purpurrot in der Farbe und einer fruchtigen, eleganten Nase ist dies ein Wein, der bereits nach eins zwei Jahren getrunken werden kann. Im Gaumen präsentiert er sich kräftig mit viel Charakter.

The best one word description you can give to this wine is, consistent. Since the early 1990’s Parker has scored it between 88 and 91 points every year. Produced and bottled at the Domiane in Morgon, Georges DuBouef’s team imparts their expertise to insure that the quality is always there while the price remains unbelievably affordable. This 2008 got the usual 90 point rating and review from the Wine Advocate which read “There are all of 2,200 cases of the 2008 Morgon Jean Descombes, which represents a perennially popular benchmark for its appellation, not to mention value. This year, black raspberry and peach preserves rush from the glass and envelop the palate with silken textural allure and an almost liqueur-like presence. Yet for all of its suggestions of sweetness, this is also more than bright enough to refresh, and grips impressively with finishing complexity of animal nuances and floral inhalation. Expect this to be worth several years of cellaring – not that one would want to miss out on its youthful charms.”

Beaujolais Villages is a blend of Gamay grapes from the various Cru Villages in Beaujolais. A distinct cut above regular Beaujolais due to the pedigree and from a distinctly superior producer, Georges Duboeuf. The Duboeuf name is synonymous with Beaujolais and through his many holdings and contracts he is able to source the best grapes available. This 2008 is fresh and forward with soft strawberry and cherry notes. Well balanced and supple this is an ideal wine for everyday.

Black raspberry and cassis dominate the Duboeuf 2008 Julienas, with iris-like floral notes adding allure in the nose, and a gentle, soothing, generously juicy palate impression rendering it impossible not to like. Consistent in style and a... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Gamay wine from Burgundy in France. 2008 Georges Duboeuf Julienas 750ml
