Bordeaux lovers rejoice! Powerful aromas of blueberry, powdered cocoa, and black currant with accents of allspice and cinnamon. On first sip this wine displays its heritage with an intense structure formed by firm dusty tannin and outlined by the Lamb Vineyard trademark acidity. Complex flavors of ripe plum, pomegranate, and blackberry complemented by elements of graphite minerality culminate with tongue-dusting tannins. The long finish features the sweet fruit flavor of fresh red cherry eaten right off the tree. Amidst the recent California vintages that have featured ripe ready wines, the 2003 Lamb Vineyard Cabernet is a wine that holds within it the secret to aging with grace, power, and finesse.<table><tbody><tr> <th></th> <th>90 Points</th> <th>Robert Parker&#39;s Wine Advocate</th></tr> <tr> <td colspan="3">The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard (they hadn&#39;t decided whether to declassify the 2004 or not) possesses a distinctive style reminiscent of a northern Graves wine from Bordeaux. Vintage: 2002 01/30/2009

A big, rich style with pronounced earth and leather flavors that give it a dry edge and offset the ripe core of fleshy black cherry and wild berry flavors. On the finish, it turns complex, retaining both its fruit complexity and leathery taste.-From

2002 92 Points Robert Parkers Wine Advocate The 2002 Lamb Vineyard reveals that Bordeaux-like personality with notes of scorched earth/hot rocks, chocolate, black and blue fruits, and strong mineral component. Beautifully made with excellent, concentrated fruit, this 2002 requires 2-3 years of bottle age. It should drink well for 15+ years. Tasting Notes: One of my favorite Northern California vineyards is Napas 12-acre Lamb Vineyard, which often produces wines with a character not dissimilar from a Bordeaux such as La Mission Haut-Brion. Fishers 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard reveals that Bordeaux-like personality with notes of scorched earth/hot rocks, chocolate, black and blue fruits, and a strong mineral component. Beautifully made with excellent, concentrated fruit, this 2002 requires 2-3 years of bottle age. It should drink well for 15+ years. - Robert Parker 2002 90-92 Points Steven Tanzer, International Wine Cellar (May/June 2004) Deep ruby-red. Vibrant, cool aromas of blackcurrant, mint and cinnamon. Juicy and lively in the mouth, with firm currant and cherry flavors complemented by a note of milk chocolate. Today the wines brightness is accentuated by firm tannins. Not lush or fat (the RCF merlot is chewier) but quite distinctive. Try the Lamb with this fabulous recipe: Braised lamb shanks (great for cold winter evenings with a rich red wine from Fisher Vineyards) 5 T olive oil 4-6 lamb shanks 1 cup chopped onions 1 T minced garlic 1 cup chopped carrot 1 cup chopped celery 1 cup red wine 2 tsp minced thyme 2 tsp minced rosemary 3 cups beef broth 2 cups canned - chopped tomatoes and their juice In a heavy skillet heat the oil and sear the lamb shanks on all sides...set aside. Add the chopped vegetables and sauté for 5 minutes. Add wine and scrape the bottom of the pan until the wine evaporates. Return the shanks to the pan add the beef broth and S & P. Bake for 2 hours at 350 degrees with the lip on...if needed add a bit more broth.
