Firriato Nero d'Avola Chiaramonte Sicilia IGT 2008
Clear and trasparent, ruby red with granat nuance, consistent. Somewhat intense and complex at taste: mainly chemical notes and red fruits (mature fruits or even marmelade). Dry and warm at taste, also acid and salty, equilibrated but not yet in perfect harmony.
Beautiful aromas of spice, cedar, cherries. Mint and thyme notes emerge in the palate. Nice mouthfeel, and medium body.
Enjoyed this with pizza. Lots of spice and cherry on the nose. Based on other tasting notes, I think it's Syrah-like qualities appealed to me. Nice blackberry, licorice and spice on the mouth with nice acidity. Not a bad QPR, at least for me.
