Finca Torremilanos Monte Castrillo Rosado 2009
This wine is made from 100% Tempranillo, from organically farmed vineyards. 5 different parcels contributed grapes to the blend with an average age of the vines being 25 years. Parcels were chosen based on aromatic and structural traits. The grapes see 4 days of pre-fermentation maceration with twice daily pumpovers, looking to increase aromas in the finished wine. On the fourth day during pumpovers the must is oxygenated to help the strictly native yeast to begin fermentation. After fermentation, there are 4 pump-overs daily for 4 days and then the skins are removed. Malo occurs in tank and then the wine is racked to barrel. The blend is assembled after 13 months in French oak barrels, 1/3 of which were new and which were coopered on site.
Editorial Reviews for Finca Torremilanos Monte Castrillo Rosado
A bit mineral on the nose though with lots of herb, leaf and spice framed raspberry fruit. Broad and soft in the mouth with a light edge of sweetness to the slightly dull cherry and watermelon fruit that gains some nice spice notes on the backend. This is pretty fruity and simple with good fruit and mineral notes vying for attention on the modest finish. A bit run of the mill. 84pts
a 100% tempranillo with a gorgeous pink watermelon color with bright citrus aromas, some peach and herbal notes. very refreshing
The nose of this wine has a distinct set of floral overtones, mixed with a bit of fresh citrus, green grass and a bit of oak. The taste is really quite nice, with flavors of green apple, and a hint of citrus up front, which gives way to some lovely green herbs and oak midpalate. The finish on this wine is super dry, with nicely structured tannins supporting a crisp, refreshingly dry finish. Wonderful color with aroma of strawberry and some peach in the background. On the palate the strawberry came through along with a wisp of citrus. Some fresh herbs were present. A short but very refreshing finish. This wine was all about freshness.
Strawberry, citrus, light dried herb notes when tasting and minerals on the finish. Fantastic value.
Clean and full bodied rose that can stand up to spicy fare. Good value.
