Finca Son Bordils VI de Taule de Balears 2004

Member Review by ryanopaz:

Light golden. Nose of creamy walnut and vanilla oak. Light body with low acid, kind of flabby. The fruit doesn't shine really with more oak and muted pineapple. 2/5 [NR]

Strong bright floral notes followed by peaches. Fully dry and quite thin with a medium acidity. The great nose on this made me hope for more, but they don't seem to follow through on the palate. 2.5/5 [NR]

Cabernet with a touch of Mantonegro this vintage. Brown rim around deep purple core. Nose of Vanilla, chocolate and clove. Strong tannins in the mouth and very fine. Flavors of currant, pepper, and oak. Pretty straight forward Cabernet, possibly with the ability to develop further. 3/5 [NR]

Lighter purple in color. The nose shows light bacon fat, raspberry. Lacking somewhat in body the primary flavors are of raspberry and pepper. 2.5/5 [NR]

This wine is a blend of 40% Merlot, 25% Manto Negro (the most widely planted varietal and indigenous to the island of Mallorca), 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and three other varietals Syrah, Callet, and Prensal which spent 12 months in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels. The color is pale ruby with an aromatic nose of dried herbs, sawdust, red currant, leather, and dried cranberries. The flavorful palate has a distinct salty minerality, with plum and red currants. This blend is dry, medium bodied, with tart acidity, medium astringent tannins and a incredibly long finish. This a complex tannic red which should be decanted a few hours prior to consumption. It kind of has the same structure as Barolo or Barbaresco. I think this wine will get better after another 4 to 5 more years in bottle. 3/5
