Finca Sobreño Toro Crianza 2008
This Crianza is made from 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) grapes grown on 124 acres of vineyards . The vines with a minimum age of 30 years are planted at a very low density (2,223 plants/acre), and the grapes are grown at reduced production levels. Grapes are hand-picked, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and aged for eight months in American oak barrels.
This winery was the result of a project by a group of vine growers based in the DO Rioja, who in 1998 decided to expand their horizons and invest in the D.O. Toro. They wanted to produce great wines with international appeal using Tinta de Toro, an indigenous grape with very interesting qualities. Sobreño currently owns 80 hectares of vineyards -half of them are over 35 years of age- and controls 90 hectares owned by local producers.

Food Pairings for Finca Sobreño Toro Crianza
This exhibits a very toasty nose with coffee grounds from those heavily toasted barrels adding intensity. While it’s a Crianza, it's much bigger than most Crianzas, befitting a Toro wine. The wine is still firm and hard, and the barrel notes will need time to absorb into the blueberry and blackberry fruits within.
400000 bottles produced.
Aged 8 months in American Oak.
