Finca Sandoval Manchuela 2007

External Review by We Speak Wine:

(76% syrah, 13% monastrell and 11% bobal) Glass-staining purple. Suave, finely focused aromas of dark berries, Asian spices, anise and smoky minerals, with a sexy mocha undertone. Juicy and nicely balanced, with sweet blackberry and blueberry flavors, gentle spiciness and tangy minerality. The mineral quality helps to extend the sweet, sappy finish. Theres an understated, precise quality to this wine thats extremely attractive. ** SOLD OUT **

In 2000, a group of small producers of single-estate wines from Old and New Castile got together to defend the personality which defines the wines from the best growths and to promote this culture of individuality which was being reborn in Spain. They founded Grandes Pagos de Castilla (Great Growths of Castile). This not-for-profit association became Grandes Pagos de España in 2003, reponding to the requests of many colleagues in other parts of the country who wished to make the single-growth concept better known and to seek excellence through the direct relationship between wine and its place of origin.
