What to Expect

Though Mourvèdre is a grape with Spanish roots, where it is known as Monastrell, it is most closely associated with the South of France and the Bandol appelation in particular, where the grape produces rich, powerful wines that retain rustic tannins partnered with dark, wild berry flavors and gamy, leathery nuances. It is also commonly called Mataro in California.

Reviews

Dark berry fruit, licorice, mushrooms, and leather on first whiff. Baked cherries and overripe dark fruit can overwhelm at first sip but opens up to spice and licorice notes through the finish. Not without imperfections, but a good value.
