Member Review by heathbodell:

Very mineral and funky nose. Extremely earthy and a bit of tanginess on the finish.

Very nice Rioja. Deep inky purple like colour with sweet cherry and blueberry with a hint of spice. Leaves your mouth exceptionally dry but very moreish.

Mineral, ripe blueberry note. My impression was even better on the second day.

"Focused and balanced, this elegant red delivers plum, licorice and vanilla flavors, with fresh acidity and floral and mineral notes over fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2012. 3000 cases imported." 90 Points - Wine Spectator, June 7, 2007

Well balanced with firm mouthfeel from medium acidity. Ripe red berries on the front and the oak aging comes through on the finish, but it is not too dry. Lingering berry gives this a long finish.

The 2005 Allende is 100% Tempranillo barrel-fermented and aged for 14 months in mostly new French oak. Purple-colored, it offers up an enticing bouquet of pain grille, crushed stone, spice box, scorched earth and blackberry. Ripe, layered, and complex, it has gobs of spicy fruit, several years of aging potential, and a lengthy finish. Ruby-red. Sexy cherry and roasted meat aromas are complicated by dried orange peel and licorice. Bitter cherry and anise flavors develop a smoky quality with air and are framed by silky tannins. Gains sweetness on the long, spicy finish, which echoes the exotic orange quality. This is extremely suave. Cherry, orange peel and leaf notes show traditional character in this light, firm red, which is fresh and clean. Drink now through 2012. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 3,000 cases imported. -TM ** SOLD OUT **
