Filon Garnacha 2013
The winery is located in Villarroya de la Sierra, one of the highest areas of the DO made of Paleolithic materials, mainly quartzite and slate. In addition the soils have the right organic content, which provide sufficient nutrients to the plant with proper aeration. The climate offers little rain and large temperature fluctuations between day and night. The grapes for Filon come from old vines vineyards, 30-40 years-old, with yields of 2T/Ha and located high on the hillsides, 3,000 ft above sea level, around the north zone of Calatayud.Stainless steel fermented.
A little bit of a harsh taste. Ok for the price, but not great.
Spanish Garnacha. Noise is slightly alcoholic with bright fruit. Good beginning with decent fruit and slight spice. Finish is slightly alcholic with a tangy aftertaste. With a 2010 vintage, this is still tasting young. However, for the price of $9 it is a good value, decent for daily drinking with dinner. Not sure its worth the 90 points Robert Parker gave it though.
