Fife Mendocino 2005
A Wine with Attitude This southern Rhône-wine is a blend of Syrah, Carignane, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Cinsaut. Grown on the sun-washed slopes of the Ukiah and Redwood Valleys (latitude 39º), these meridional varieties feel right at home in Mendocino County. Longer daylight hours during the growing season, coupled with clear, warm days and cool nights, rocky, well-drained soils, and favorable exposures on the hillside slopes above the Russian River create a terroir comparable to that of the Rhône, the ancestral home of these varieties. On the Palate The 2005 L'Attitude 39 is a wine with more than a little attitude. With a woodsy, dark spice contributed by Syrah, it's loaded with intriguing aromas that bring us back to southern France: wild berries, licorice, bitter chocolate, espresso, plus the heady scents of wild herbs, wood spice and sunbaked stones. Charmingly forward and rich on the palate, with a zesty finish that invites another taste. A wine guaranteed to adjust your attitude. The Gentle Art of Winemaking Our winemaking philosophy is simple-obtain grapes with personality, handle them minimally, then focus on blending to bring out nuance and character in the wine. We depend on the vineyard to create the fruit, the density and the concentration. In the winemaking we seek to assure balance, elegance, texture and length of flavor. Download Printable Version
Fife Vineyards is a small, family-operated winery producing wines that express their terroir and a European sensibility. They are food-friendly wines based on red Bordeaux, Rhône and Zinfandel varietals. We strive to avoid over-ripeness, excess oak and high alcohol, which we believe would mask the unique terroir driven flavors of our wines.
