Fetzer Zinfandel California Valley Oaks 2006
Fetzer Vineyards was founded in 1968 in beautiful Mendocino County by Barney and Kathleen Fetzer. One of the first California wineries to branch out into serious Chardonnay production, Fetzer remains committed to sustainability and environmentally conscious wine production. Dennis Martin oversees all wine-making at Fetzer and is assisted by Charlie Gilmore and Michael Chupp, who are in charge of white wine making and red wine making respectively.

Most wineries selling inexpensive Zin are putting out mediocre stuff, but Fetzer overdelivers for the price. You'll find this wine to be dry, richly tannic and balanced, with satisfying flavors of spicy blackberries, cherries and tobacco.

A ripe, full-flavored wine that maintains both elegance and structure. Medium ruby in color, with concentrated aromas of dried berry, clove spice, chocolate and sandalwood. On the palate, the wine is dense and rich, with intense flavors of tobacco, dried berry, and prune. The finish is long and medium-bodied, with soft tannins.
Sprightly and clean, with full-throttle fruit and spice and a softly tannic texture. The pepper and wild-berry flavors are distinctive and delicious, and nicely dry. Try with pizza, or pasta with spicy sausages.
