Fetzer Gewurztraminer California Valley Oaks 2012
Lovely if very fruity on the nose with good intensity to the classic honeysuckle, peach and honeydew aromas that show a bit of an Orangesicle sweetness to them. In the mouth, this is somewhat small-scaled, bright, juicy and livel, with clear, classic if slightly simple Viognier flavors of orange cream, honeysuckle and candied peach. Not complex or fancy and a touch short, but still quite attractive. 87ptsAdd winemaker's notes

Overall a nice viognier, fruity and mellow.
sweet and fruity. plum, peach, apricot
This California gewurztraminer tastes like a late harvest wine with its sweet entry. Golden straw in colour with medium intensity. The nose shows rose petals and ripe apricot and peach. There is sufficient acidity in the wine to balance out the sweetness. Big stone fruit and honey on the palate with a medium finish.
One and a half glasses
A fine sweet white wine. Very similar to a standard riesling.
thick, sweet almost dessert like wine. Strong scent of rose on the nose. Slight pear, and orange peel flavors. Sweeter than our usual pick, but delicious. Great as an after dinner drink (dessert)
Initially sweet on the nose, with a little spice. A little too sweet, actually. Still friendly and drinkable. A little more acid or spicy flavors would bring much more depth and interest to this.

It's often called gavurtz because it's hard to say, and even harder to spell. This wine, though, is a secret weapon, great for taming spicy foods or sipping on its own. Enjoy the honeyed apricot and peach flavors in the glass, and breathe deeply to capture the aromas of rose petals and honeysuckle. Lots of people love this wine, even if they'll never spell it. Just ask for gavurtz. We'll know what you mean. - Dennis Martin, Winemaker
Sweet. Allspice and nutmeg season the ripe peachy fruit aromas. Clean, juicy, fresh peach qualities on the palate make this another successful quaffer for those who like it sweet.
Aromatic rose petal, lychee and candied lemon peel notes give way to ripe peach and dried pineapple flavors. A juicy acidity balances out the candied fruit flavors.
Sometimes it seems that our white wine industry could become a Chardonnay monoculture. It's good to see that Fetzer isn't abandoning their efforts with other varietals. Sweet peach, mild lychee and spice aromas open this unabashedly sweet and easy wine, with its tangerine flavors and slight spritz on the round palate. Not very complex or sophisticated, but broadly appealing.
Fans of our Fetzer Gewurztraminer won't be disappointed withthis vintage. Rich, fruity and clean aromas of orange spice join with pineapple, baked pears and hints of tell-tale cinnamon. The wine can be zesty, and flavors of clove, orange and caramelized apples come to the fore. One wine writer described our Gavurz as a 'Two WoW Experience: great tasting and great energy.' I like that.
Deep golden straw colored, with a nose of dried apricot, spicy peach, a touch of rose petal and honeysuckle. In the mouth, crisp green apple, honeyed apricot, and peach flavors meld with the traditional spicy flavors of Gewürztraminer. This medium-bodied wine's off-dry style strikes the perfect balance between its sweetness and bright, crisp acidity.
