Fetzer California Merlot 2009
There’s a sense of pride that comes from making wine in a place with a rich history. I think our Mendocino roots show in every glass of our Merlot. It has an easy, approachable style with aromas of ripe plums and flavors of blackberry and cherry. This wine goes great with just about any meal, making it a good choice to have on hand for every day.
Fetzer Vineyards was founded in 1968 in beautiful Mendocino County by Barney and Kathleen Fetzer. One of the first California wineries to branch out into serious Chardonnay production, Fetzer remains committed to sustainability and environmentally conscious wine production. Dennis Martin oversees all wine-making at Fetzer and is assisted by Charlie Gilmore and Michael Chupp, who are in charge of white wine making and red wine making respectively.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Ripe cherry and blackberry jam meld with creamy vanilla aromas, a touch of tobacco, spicy clove and cinnamon, and toasted oak. The wine is rich in the mouth, with full tannin and dark-ripe fruity cherry flavors. The finish is long and fruit-filled, with the perfect amount of toasty oak spice.
Bright ruby. Moderately light-bodied. Balanced acidity. Subtly extracted. heavily oaked. Mildly tannic. Cedar, brown sugar, red fruits. highly aromatic with a woody accent. light with juicy acidity and bright berry flavors. Lingering finish with some astringence.
Blended with Carignane and Syrah, allegedly in order to enhance the mouthfeel, acid, and body of the wine, this rendition of the ever-popular Eagle Peak Merlot is dark purple in color with flavors of ripe plum, blackberry jam and spicy clove.
Black cherry flavors mark this pretty wine, which also has a distinctive herbal edge. The tannins are soft, but good acidity keeps it lively in the mouth, and it finishes clean, fruity and spicy. Nice everyday drinking at a great price.
Simple red cherry and berry flavors last in this smooth-textured merlot, a clean red for roast beef.
