Lot's of fruit. A little jammy but not overly so. Ideal if you like a wine that can stand up by itself.

Great Shiraz at a good price. Listed at #61 on the Wine Spectator top 100 for 2010. Big fruit (as expected) but not too jammy.

An exceptional Syrah. I had two different sommeliers suggest this for me and they both spoke very highly of it. It wasn't spicy or overly powerful as some syrahs can be (which I don't necessarily mind), but it definitely had a straight forward syrah taste to it. This is one to impress friends with at a dinner party!

The 2006 Watcher showed to be a beautifully elegant and cerebral wine as aromas of florist shop, animal musk, toasty oak and green stems filled the senses. The creamy, full bodied palate showed red fruit, holiday spice and earthy minerality, which turned to sour fruit on the fresh, gorgeous finish

Bottle well-aired, at least a day. Centered, candied nose with hints of perfumed floral and nail polish. Balanced and quite well-integrated with the right levels of acid, tannin, spices, and lovely sour deep dark layered fruit (savory plum, cherry, perhaps the usual blueberry) with a sour kick at the front of the tongue after you swish it. Finishes with some taste of nuts and earthy dried fruit plus notes of licorice and burnt toast (probably toasty oak, I liked it anyway). This was a tasty Aussie. Body medium plus, acid medium plus, tannin medium. Dryish.

Supple, generous and deftly balanced to show plenty of ripe cherry and plum fruit, shaded with sweet spices. But there's not a lot of weight, and this finishes with elegance and restraint. Shiraz. Best from 2010 through 2020. 5,000 cases imported. -HS

This wine, made by Binder is a project he embarked on with the importer to create superior wines by superstar winemakers at great prices. Binder’s of course, is a Barossa Shiraz which is the wine that’s made him famous. And for this particular wine he is the Watcher; overseeing every step of production from grape sourcing to final release. Parker’s Wine Advocate scored it 90 points (no surprise) and said “The 2006 The Watcher Shiraz offers up a nose of wood-smoke, tar, blueberry, and blackberry. This leads to a thick, structured wine with excellent layering of fruit, intense flavors, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Give it 2-3 years to unfold and drink it through 2016.” We’re offering this lush shiraz currently ON SALE at a deep discount, so don’t hesitate.
