When Fess Parker was cast in the roll of Davy Crockett in the mid-1950’s, it caused an international sensation and changed his life forever. So too did the purchase of 714 acres in the Santa Ynez Valley change the course of the Parker family’s history. Realizing the potential of Santa Barbara County as a premium grape-growing region, Fess and his son, Eli, originally set out in 1989 to plant a small vineyard and sell fruit to local producers. But, as Fess’ daughter, Ashley explains, “ Fess is from Texas, so he can’t do anything small. “The Fess Parker Winery and Vineyard now farms almost 700 acres on four vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County. A fuller-style Pinot Noir - dark plum color in the glass with alluring vibrant aromas of red apple skins, blackberry, vanilla and cherries. Mouthfilling style suited for wine drinkers who like a heavy wine.

This wine has a classic flavor combination featuring dried cherries and herbs, with a bit of smoky oak. A nice, lively backbone of silky tannins supports the fruit and oak seamlessly.

Medium- to full-bodied, with enticing cherry, plum and strawberry fruit flavors on the nose and palate, complemented by nuances of spice, cloves and fresh herbs and kissed with a hint of toasty oak.

Deep crimson in color, this pinot leans toward the full-bodied side, with lots of strawberries and cherries and tell-tale pinot spice and on both the nose and palate. A touch of anise and a decent helping of oak round out the finish on this new effort from the folks at Fess Parker.

The 2002 Pinot Noir Parker Station is the type of easygoing, value-priced Pinot Noir that is virtually impossible to find. Berry, herb, and earth characterize both the aromatics and the flavors of this 2002. It is designed for immediate consumption.

A well-structured Pinot that offers big, round and supple ripe cherry and raspberry flavors. A hint of leather adds interest as this wine evolves into a long, smooth finish.

From Fess Parker Winery, this nicely structured Pinot Noir has a lot going for it. Bright, candy apple red; aromas of cherry, bourbon, and spice. It balances its spicy cherry pie flavor with soft tannins and undertones of vanilla and toast. Enjoy this wine as an aperitif or with dinner.
