High toned and fairly piercing on the nose with a trace of seashell or sea air adding a nice freshening note to fine aromas of plum skin and raspberry accented with a light tarragon note, with air moves in to become more assertive before backing off again. Very fresh in the mouth and nicely sappy with a bit of baby fat packed around a beautifully focused core of fruit. This is light on its feet, though richly packed with wonderfully nuanced black raspberry, cherry pit, pomegranate seed, and wild strawberry fruit flavors that hint at wood spice and soil tones. This is absolutely seductive in the mouth with superbly judged tannins and a nice, almost aggressive soil/mineral and herb background for the fruit. The finish is clean, and fresh with the vague hint of astringency one gets from fruit skins. The wood is again somewhat noticeable, adding a light nutty element to the finish, but the purity of the fruit, with its gentle herbal suggestions and a slight element of grapefruit pith on the finale is more than adequate to handle the wood. It shows a bit of hit, which is the biggest knock against it but this is nonetheless great stuff. 94pts
Our previous memory of this wine over a year ago was a bit above average. Since, it appears this wine had turned and become a bit below average. We will continue to remember this wine as we first enjoyed it; a good Bevmo selection.
Nice smooth wine - some peppery spice, berries, with light tannins and low acidity
Great raspberry flavors and wonderful red fruit aromas. Light and smooth.
While this wine had not turned, in was not drinkable. The inital flavor was worse than a sugary box wine followed by an attempt at tannins that just tasted like bad grapes.
Wild berries and red cherries turn to earth and smoke. I got just a bit of pepper in there too.
