Ferrer Gloria Sonoma Brut NV
The Sonoma Brut has been carefully crafted entirely from hand-harvested Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Over forty different selections of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are planted on our 340-acre estate in the Sonoma Carneros district. It is this viticultural diversity that allows us to consistently produce cuvées with complexity and clear fruit expression. The Brut is dominated by Pinot Noir, a stylistic decision enabling the complex aromatic and palate profile that this red-skinned grape contributes to Brut cuvées. • Whole cluster pressed to avoid bitter compounds • 20 to 25% of the premiere taille or first press, is used to add richness and structure to the base blend. • Juice is naturally settled overnight (débourbage) to encourage a clean fermentation. • Proprietary yeast used for the secondary bottle fermentation provides a delicate house signature from year to year. • The cuvée is a blend of 20 different base wines fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. • The wine spent a year and a-half en tirage (on the yeast). • Small and numerous bubbles are encouraged by autolysis, the process by which yeast imparts complexity and a yeasty character to the wine. The autolysis particles provide sites for the formation of the mousse. • After disgorgement, the wine was balanced with a dosage of 1.3 g/100 mls.

Original wine they opened tasting room with in 1986, usually very heavy Pinot, 85% plus Fruity on the nose with hints of vanilla and faint toasted nut character,. with a rather fine mousse, this delivers lemon curd and green apple flavors with with juicy acids, all framed by a little toasty nuttiness and some sweet pie crust accents. Rather fruity, fun and easy to like. 88pts

Peach and apricot nose, with round fruits bigger on the palate and a hint of sweetness. Good!
A little different then its French cousin. Under a great amount of pressure. Sparkling wine with the smell remnant of champagne. Sweet taste with hints of peach that transitions into a dry and delightful aftertaste. Delicate and a wonderful, but frugal, way to celebrate any occasion. Great deal for the money.
Lively, vibrant mousse. Nose of green apples, mineral, and biscuit. Dry but not overly so with a nice acidic edge. Prominent flavors of tart green apples. Crisp and refreshing. 3.5+ out of 5.

An exceptional value. Round and full-bodied, with rich, ripe apple, pear and honeydew melon flavors. This complex sparkler has a nice touch of yeast and doughy aromas that give it added character, turning creamy with a touch of vanilla. Drink now through 2009. 65,000 cases made. -JL Bronze-gold hue with very active effervescence. White bread, vanilla and light grain aromas. Soft, melded palate of buttered bread and ginger ale flavors complemented by crisp acids. Notes of baked apple and creamy lemon accent the close.

What a pretty color: off-gold with a trace of copper. Smells fresh and clean, with bread dough, vanilla, and a whiff of smoky raspberry. Full-bodied, with succulent raspberry and cherry flavors; dry and spicy. Finishes lively and a little rough. 92% Pinot Noir and 8% Chardonnay. Best Buy.
