Original wine they opened tasting room with in 1986, usually very heavy Pinot, 85% plus Fruity on the nose with hints of vanilla and faint toasted nut character,. with a rather fine mousse, this delivers lemon curd and green apple flavors with with juicy acids, all framed by a little toasty nuttiness and some sweet pie crust accents. Rather fruity, fun and easy to like. 88pts

Sweet taste with hints of peach that transitions into a dry and delightful aftertaste. Delicate and a wonderful, but frugal, way to celebrate any occasion. Great deal for the money.
Lively, vibrant mousse. Nose of green apples, mineral, and biscuit. Dry but not overly so with a nice acidic edge. Prominent flavors of tart green apples. Crisp and refreshing. 3.5+ out of 5.
Fairly standard sparkling wine - toasty, bread notes on nose with some dried fruit. Palate is similar with also some dired fruit and very subtle tones you might find in sherry. A little more interesting than the blanc de noirs.

I think this Brut is a phenomenal value. I regularly buy it for "toasting" occasions and it never disappoints!

Showing a richer and weightier style than is the norm among this years’ sparklers, this “winey” effort makes obvious its larger percentage of Pinot Noir. Suggesting roasted grains, cream and a touch of graham cracker in its moderately yeasty aromas, the wine is broad and fruity in flavor with an ample measure of yeast. If a bit too heavy and slightly too coarse to win wholesale endorsement as an aperitif, it is eminently suited to service with poultry or richer foods.
Fairly quiet in fruit and trimmed with a subtle bit of developed yeastiness, this light, comparatively restrained sparkling wine… will find its best use when served alone.
Yeasty, doughy aromas lead to ripe creamy pear, vanilla and fig flavors, picking up a rich earth- and vanilla-scented core of flavors. Drink now through 2008.
One of the drier California bubblies on the market. The pretty vanilla, smoke, raspberry and lime aromas and flavors are set in a very dry package, with good acidity and a lively feeling in the mouth. Finishes a bit hot and peppery.
Pale yellow hue. Apple and lemon aromas with a yeasty accent precede a vibrant, medium-bodied palate with a brightly-fruited finish. There seems to be a lot of Chardonnay influence.
Full-throttle lime, peach and strawberry aromas come through on the nose, with a trace of toast. It drinks as fruity as it smells. There’s some pretty toast and good acidity, and it finishes fruity and a little sweet.
Very pale straw color with lots of fine, small bubbles. Nutty, smoky apricot and lemon-lime aromas, freshly baked bread, and a whiff of vanilla. Light-bodied, dry, fine and elegant. You can taste the dosage in the finish. the blend is 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay.
The Sonoma Brut has been carefully crafted entirely from hand-harvested Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Over forty different selections of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are planted on our 340-acre estate in the Sonoma Carneros district. It is this viticultural diversity that allows us to consistently produce cuvées with complexity and clear fruit expression. The Brut is dominated by Pinot Noir, a stylistic decision enabling the complex aromatic and palate profile that this red-skinned grape contributes to Brut cuvées. • Whole cluster pressed to avoid bitter compounds • 20 to 25% of the premiere taille or first press, is used to add richness and structure to the base blend. • Juice is naturally settled overnight (débourbage) to encourage a clean fermentation. • Proprietary yeast used for the secondary bottle fermentation provides a delicate house signature from year to year. • The cuvée is a blend of 20 different base wines fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. • The wine spent a year and a-half en tirage (on the yeast). • Small and numerous bubbles are encouraged by autolysis, the process by which yeast imparts complexity and a yeasty character to the wine. The autolysis particles provide sites for the formation of the mousse. • After disgorgement, the wine was balanced with a dosage of 1.3 g/100 mls.
