Ferraton Pere & Fils Crozes-Hermitage la Matinière 2006
Dark red with a smokey aroma. Hints of white pepper mixed into dark red berries and a mix of tannins. Balanced in acidity with an old-world style. Decent for the price and a good example of the area.Add winemaker's notes
Ferraton Père et Fils is a winery/negociant in the north of the Côtes du Rhône. Their wines are smooth, well balanced and very affordable considering the quality. Notably their Crozes-Hermitage "La Matinière" red and white and the St-Joseph "La Source", also red and white. For wines to lay down, look more towards the Hermitages and the single vinyard selection.

nose as big as streisand, tasted young, wild and untamed, overall something of a diamond in the rough
