Ferraton Pere and Fils Cotes du Rhone Rouge Samorens 2015

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This wine just crushed the Landonne, Earthy and leathery on the nose but without any dirtiness, in its stead just layered and pure raspberry with a lightly smoky, gamy adge, subtle sagy green herb notes a touch of green peppercorn. In the mouth this offers great intensity of flavor with dark strawberry fruits and a note of green peppercorn as on the nose followed by complicating noes of pressed flowers and nut oil. Elegant and bright in the mouth with fairly resolved, soft tannins and wonderful energy in the mouth that lead to a long, resonant finish. This is firmly at peak and just singing tonight.

Ferraton Père & Fils:
Ferraton Père et Fils is a winery/negociant in the north of the Côtes du Rhône. Their wines are smooth, well balanced and very affordable considering the quality. Notably their Crozes-Hermitage "La Matinière" red and white and the St-Joseph "La Source", also red and white. For wines to lay down, look more towards the Hermitages and the single vinyard selection.

Taut and focused, with fine-grained tannins leading the way for dark cherry, plum, currant, tobacco and iron notes. The long finish has a nice tug of earth. Best from 2009 through 2018. 550 cases made
