Ferrari Perle Trento Brut NV

Winemaker's Notes:

"The NV Brut Metodo Classico is a beautifully balanced, crisp sparkling wine with excellent definition in its white peaches, apricots, smoke and flowers. Ferrari was born over a century ago in 1902 through the efforts of Giulio Ferrari. After his studies in France, Ferrari returned to Trentino, Italy and planted Chardonnay, which no one had done before. Ferrari was convinced that through the combination of Trentino terroir, the innovative use of Chardonnay and the use of the traditional “metodo classico”, he could make world-class sparkling wines. By 1906, the awards started to roll in and Ferrari was well on its way to producing what would shortly become the most famous sparkling wine in all of Italy.  In 1952, Giulio Ferrari, not having any children, chose Bruno Lunelli, a friend and local merchant as successor for his beloved business. Today the third generation of the Lunelli family is at the helm and the winery could not be in better hands as it continues to be a perennial Tre Bicchieri winner. Read less

Quite yeasty on the nose with some lovely, pithy citrus fruit notes that recall lime oil. Very fine mousse in the mouth with a touch of sweetness early on then more acid driven flavors of tart apples doused with lemon juice over a nice base of evolved, leery character. Finishes stingily with a return of a sweet edge and nice lifted inner mouth notes of flowers and brioche over a base of orchard fruits. Easy to enjoy and fairly complex and elegant at this price. 89pts

The Loire Valley has often been called the “garden of France.” This pastoral landscape, with its gently rolling hills and majestic châteaux, is the largest sparkling wine region in France, outside of Champagne. One of the best known names in fine Loire Valley sparkling wines is Marquis de la Tour from Maison Ackerman. Maison Ackerman, which has been identified with premium quality Loire Valley sparkling wines since 1811, is the Loire Valley’s single largest wine producer. Ackerman today has a fully fledged sustainable development approach based on maintaining the right balance between the social, economic and environmental aspects of wine production. At Ackerman, this means respecting terroirs, holding onto their personal values and pursuing a viable economic approach. Named for a 16th century tower (tour) which still exists today, “Marquis de la Tour” reflects a long heritage of sparkling wine production. It has been a welcome guest and the toast of the party at social gatherings and family celebrations, both formal and casual. Its handsome packaging projects a timeless, classic elegance and is a charming and affordably priced sparkling wine. Production Area Loire Valley, France Grape Varieties Ugni Blanc , Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay Vinification This sparkling wine is made from 100% Loire grapes. Because of its northern location, the grapes maintain an excellent acidity. Consistency and quality are carefully monitored to create very fine bubbles. The dosage has been perfected to make a clean, fruity but dry sparkling wine of extraordinary quality at a very attractive price. Color Pale gold with fine bubbles Bouquet Delicate floral aromas coupled with citrus and melon Taste Crisp, clean and light with fine bubbles, ripe melon and green apple flavors Alcohol 11% Serving Suggestions Served chilled. This sparkling wine can accompany an entire meal or be served as an aperitif.

Bubbles...Bubbles...Bubbles/ From Italy came the Ferrari Brut, non-vintage, 100% Chardonnay sparkling wine. This is an interesting creamy, straw yellow sparkler from Trentino, with a lively and persistent mousse and aromatic notes of baked apple, gingerbread, and yeast that linger on this finish.

Top 100 Wines of 2006/ A tightly packed, mineral-driven sparkler with aromas of bread, white stone, almond, pear, banana and cracked white pepper. The mouth is rendered lively and fresh thanks to fruit and toast accents; a taunt, yet expressive whole.

Nice aromas of dough, strawberry and cedar. Very fruity, with a full body, a medium velvety texture and a simple finish. Drink now.
