Ferrari Carano Tresor Alexander Red Blend 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

The availability of this product is limited and subject to change.

Wine Tasting Notes
Ferrari-Carano presents its finest blend of the five classic Bordeaux varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from the best selections of all our vineyards in Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Aptly named "Tresor" for "treasure," the grapes are grown exclusively from dryfarmed, low yielding vines primarily on our mountain vineyards. Vibrant aromas and flavors of blackberry syrup, baking spices, toasted oak, black tea, cedar, vanilla and cassis, combine with a full, rich mid-palate with considerable, round tannins. Lingering sweet oak notes of creme brulee and dark chocolate add great depth. This wine's upfront silkiness and roundness make for a delicious selection now and will drink well for 15-20 years.

71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, 7% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc

Wine Enthusiast ReviewIt has been some years since I last tasted this proprietary Bordeaux blend, and it's nice to see it's a very good wine. A little hard and unresolved now, it shows a wealth of oak-infused blackberry, cherry, olive and cocoa flavors, and an acid-tannin balance that will help it age. Best 2008 - 2010 or so.Wine Tasting NotesFerrari-Carano presents its finest blend of the five classic Bordeaux varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from the best selections of all our vineyards in Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Aptly named "Tresor" for "treasure," the grapes are grown exclusively from dryfarmed, low yielding vines primarily on our mountain vineyards. Intense, concentrated and dark ruby red in color, Tresor has layered aroma and flavor components, including black cherry and plum mingled with warm cedar, eucalyptus and the sweet toast of French oak. Despite its power, Tresor is an elegant and supple wine, showing ripe, smooth tannins and a long, fruit-dominated finish. 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot
