Ferrari Carano Siena Us 2007
Wine Tasting Notes Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon are the classic grapes found in the Italian 'super-Tuscan' red wine blend. They take on a new dimension when grown in Sonoma Countys earthy burnt orange soils. SIENA combines bright raspberry, cherry flavors with smooth tannins and a rich finish.
Picture a syrupy version of Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry with a shot of Vodka minus the alcohol heat. That is what this wine tastes like. in a good way. Ok. anyways, this is 78% Sangiovese 22% Malbec. For some reason the Malbec totally dominates. I would guess Malbec in a blind tasting. this wine is very smooth and juicy. this went great with whole wheat chicken prosciutto pasta with puttanesca sauce.
- Tasted at Total Wine & More 3/20/10
Smells of bread and toffee, tastes faintly of metal, maybe it has a lot of oaking? But not without dark fruit flavor, raisins, prunes, also a hint of tartness, finishes with a lot of dry, bitter oaky flavor. Medium in color, medium body.
One of the smoothest wines I have ever tasted. Eminently drinkable yet still has sufficient complexity to keep it interesting. Deep grape juice color, long legs, great nose, taste, and finish.
Smooth, great nose and very easy to drink.
