Ferrari-Carano vineyard practices are customized to match the particular characteristics of each vineyard to help the vines produce the best fruit possible, and to in turn, achieve the best wine possible. Directed by Don Carano and orchestrated under the supervision of Steve Domenichelli, Director of Vineyard Operations, these practices are extremely labor intensive. Steve and his team implement irrigation and nutrient regimes, trellis system and canopy management, rootstock and clone combinations, and pruning and cane selection for each vineyard site and each block within a vineyard. Because of Sonoma County's diverse geological makeup, even within one vineyard parcel there may be several different types of soil with different degrees of nutrients for vines and water-holding capacity. In addition, Steve and his team practice sustainable farming techniques, such as recycling organic matter for use as mulch in the vineyards, planting cover crops and other plant species to avoid soil erosion, add desirable nutrients back to the soil and to attract desirable insects, and integrating animals to naturally enhance biodiversity and nutrient recycling. Melon and lemon aromas full in the nose are clean and freshly floral. More citrus flavors in the mouth, with soft grapefruit and lemon flavors taking the lead with some melon and peach following and mellowing further into some tropical notes of banana and passion fruit. There's just enough cream to take the edge off with some green apple notes to freshen the palate and clean everything up. 90 pts

Great buy. Crispy and Zesty. Semi Sweet Grapefruit and a smooth honeydew on the finish. Great on the nose. I'm a traditionalist with my Sauvs and I felt like this was a great display of traditional California Sauv Blanc. The price was a bonus.

Ferrari-Carano’s 2012 Fumé Blanc has aromas of orange blossom, quince, white peach, Meyer lemon and mango complemented by flavors of pineapple, pear and guava. This wine has bright acidity and crisp freshness from the cool, stainless steel tank fermentation, while the subtle oak character from barrel aging adds, body, complexity and depth. ~ The Winery ~

Very nice sonoma sauvignon blanc. Lemon, white grapefruit, nice balance, good acidity. There's some spice and a little bite of oak on the mid palate. Excellent quality for the price.

Clear and very pale in the glass. To be expected grassy/green pepper nose. Very light on the palate. Slight grassy notes, some steely notes, some melony notes. Very slight tartness. Very quick finish but a very refreshing wine. $11.59 at Costco.

Aromas of lime, kiwi, citrus, melon and a touch of grass complemented by flavors of grapefruit, lemon and lime with a mango and guava finish. Cool, stainless steel tank fermentation gives this wine a crisp freshness while the subtle oak character from barrel aging adds complexity and depth. Made with 100% Sauvignon Blanc.

Special Case Price! This wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc grapes from various appellations in Sonoma County: Dry Creek, Alexander, Knights and Russian River Valleys. Overall, 2012 was a very good year with ideal weather conditions for the vines.

Pale flinty green. Ferrari-Carano s ever popular Fume Blanc delivers again in 2011 with a richly balanced nose of green melon cantaloupe white flowers and lemon rind. There s a hint of wood smoke that adds a level of complexity to the nose. Richly textured but balanced by racy acidity this is full in the mouth with an added flavor of banana creme and tropical pineapple. Finishes long and rich with a velvety edge. Still world class.
