Food Pairings for Ferrari Carano Fume Blanc Sonoma
reminds me a lot of a new zealand sauvignon blanc. excellent qpr and i get a lot of grass mixed with lemons and starfruit. great by itself. i did not pair it with food.
Straw colored in the glass with a pleasant nose. Crisp hints of apricot, pineapple, grapefruit and mineral. Zero finish. It does have a nice effervescent zing to it, but it's nothing I'd seek out again. - Schreiner's Winers "Springtime Sauvignon Blanc" Tasting 3/12/10
Welcome to the candy shop. This wine starts off like a Werther's Original creamy and caramel like. The finish is like a sour apple pop. You remember the kind that gets stuck on the roof of your mouth. Let the wine warm up a bit and you get nice hints of honeydew up front and crisp lime on the finish. For all of you Sauvignon Blanc fans who have relatives/sig others/friends who only drink sweet wines this is a great option for a wine that both you and they will enjoy. It's a deck smasher so drink it while the summer heat is here!
Lovely Sauvingon Blanc, great if you're getting a bit tired of really citrusy SB's this is more on the perfumed side.
very earthy and smooth, enjoyed the citrusy flavors. I have enjoyed their Fume Blanc for years and always look forward to the new release.

Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Compact young fruit with a dash of lees and hints of a steely, citrusy, piquant orange edge to the more dominant green appley aromatic character signals a fairly tight wine on the palate and that is exactly what one gets. It is fairly brisk in feel and slightly juicy in styling with a clean, balanced but somewhat attenuated finish. Try it with pan-grilled trout.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
Peach, tangerine, orange and lemon flavors are ripe and zesty, with a healthy dose of juicy acidity and good intensity on the finish. Drink now.
The 2009 Fume Blanc offers aromas and flavors of flinty grapefruit and orange rind intermixed with a hint of honey. This exuberant, crisp, medium-bodied, fruity, extroverted white is a total hedonistic turn-on. Enjoy it over the next year. By the way, it is screw-cap finished so there is not a problem with corked bottles.
Ripe and fleshy, with plenty of richness to the floral, sweet pea, fig and melon flavors that fold into vanilla and cream tones. Drink now.
Ferrari-Caranorsquo;s 2008 Fumeacute; Blanc is an exotic, exuberant, richly fruity white offering notes of honeyed melons, candied orange rind, and sweet grapefruit, medium body, and a hedonistic style. Those looking for terroir and minerality may not enjoy it, but this is a pleasure-filled wine to consume over the next year.
The 2008 Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc; a blend of vineyard lots from Sonoma County appellations — Dry Creek, Alexander and Russian River Valleys. Reduced yields but intensely flavored, well-balanced, ripe fruit was the happy result of a very challenging growing season. Individual lots are kept separate and each lot is gently crushed, de-stemmed and pressed, and then moved directly to stainless steel tanks or older French oak barrels for fermentation. The wine in barrels are sur lie aged and stirred every two weeks for four months. This Fume shows bright flavors and aromas of grapefruit, lemon and tangerine, mixed with pineapple and other tropical fruit notes. A hint of oak lingers on the finish adding to the complexity.
Creamy citrus notes complement zesty flavors an aromas of tropical fruit such as kiwi, gooseberry, pineapples and mangos with a hint of grassiness. The Sonoma County Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc is a blend of vineyard lots from various appellations of Sonoma County. Aged partially in stainless steel and older French oak gives this wine a crisp freshness and a subtle oak character that adds great complexity and depth.
"Our Home Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is truly a wine with a story. A first-time-ever, vineyard-designate bottling, this wine comes from the first vineyard Don and Rhonda purchased over 30 years ago, when they first discovered Sonoma County wine country. Located in Alexander Valley and affectionately called the Home Ranch, this two-tiered, steep, west-facing vineyard sits atop the elevated valley floor and enjoys full sunshine. An elegant wine with rich aromas and flavors of black currant, blackberry pie and cherry cola, a full mid-palate, broad and round tannins, with a spicy, racy finish." -Winery
