Femal Pago Florentino Tinto 2005

Member Review by eydrew:

The nose is a fantastic adventure or sweet and smooth, berries, etc. The flavour is more subtle than the nose. Very different smells and more subtle flavours from regular Tempranillos. Although I wouldn't give it a 5, I'd say for beginning tasters, it is a fantastic wine for a lesson in nose vs taste. However, I still found this little wine very intrigueing and have found myself buying it again and again. So 4 glasses for this, after all, I find intrigue is half the joy of wine.

dark. oak, vanilla. Huge tannins, cherry but not in your face fruit. Nice restraint, fails on midpalate but lingers a while. Very nice

A friend shared this wine with me last evening and I must admit, I did not know what to expect--such a plain label and I have little experience with Spanish wines. I was immediately impressed with the deep, beautiful hue and the nose was complex and refined. Intense flavors of berry and vanilla developed as the wine opened up. When I looked up the wine on the internet this morning, I expected it to be over $20 a bottle--I was surprised at the value and must try more Spanish REDS. I give it a 4+ out of 5

Drank at Vino Paradiso with Trish & Dietra. Great color - Very dark, almost black. Thick. Nose of vanilla and cherry. On the palate, great tannins, nice berry flavors with some caramel and vanilla, followed by a nice dry, tannic finish. Excellent - 88 points.

Drank with Trish & Dietra at Vino Paradiso. VERY nice spanish wine. Dark color, smooth flavor, nice integration and huge fruit flavors. Like "chocolate in a glass" according to Dietra.
