Felton Road Pinot Noir Central Otago Block 3 2009
Beginning with meticulous site selection and vineyard design started in 1991, Felton Road's story is one of refusal to compromise. A strict 100% estate policy with fully organic and biodynamic viticulture ensures that our fruit arrives at the winery as pure as it can be, while our entire estate comes as close to true sustainability as is possible. A commitment to hands off winemaking: gravity flow, wild yeasts, wild malo, an avoidance of fining and filtration all help preserve the wine's expression of its terroir. No additions or adjustments are performed unless they absolutely need to be. The result is Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which we believe express the authenticity and complexity of our unique vineyards.
Open Monday-Friday 2pm-5pm or by appointment
Editorial Reviews for Felton Road Pinot Noir Central Otago Block 3
Fine tea, far fruit, bit of mahogany. Whoa, this is rich and bright, super fine balance, ripe with real energy, clarity of fruit, ripe tannins, fine lifting acidity, succulent fruit, bit sweeter on the finish, tense with real cut, lovely brightness on the long finish, cut of raspberry fruit, warm berries.
Food Pairings for Felton Road Pinot Noir Central Otago Block 3
As always, the nose is dancing between crushed herbs, florals of rose or violets, musk and dark fruits. The palate is inviting, seamless, with deep, sweetly textured, firm but welcoming chocolatemocha coated tannins. The wine has great breadth and the promise of power, but without any overt muscularity. Finishes with firm structure: clean, long and hinting of a lot more to come with time in bottle.
