Felton Road Pinot Noir Central Otago 2006
92 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): The 2006 Pinot Noir cropped up in a blind tasting and shone brilliantly, somewhat closed at first with a certain earthiness and then violets, the palate imbued with grainy tannins, pure brambly fruit and superb delineation on the refined finish. (Apr 2008)
Open Monday-Friday 2pm-5pm or by appointment
Really stunning glass of Pinot Noir. Crisp, clean but an overwhelming plum, blackberry and raspberry and even a gamey meat quality which wasn't expected. New World pizzaz but nota bad thing in this case.
Pepper and licorice are on the heavy side. Nice plum on the palate. This wine has all the elements of a Burgundy but "at warp speed' as one of my wine instructors noted. Another over the top wine from down under. Usually one expects this from the Australians not the New Zealanders.
a very young wine absolutely stuffed full of black cherry fruit. Tight structure with excellent balance- highly recommend- needs acouple more years in bottle get it while you can

A nose of plum, dark cherry and herbs with oriental spice. Ripeness drives the palate, no jamminess but a rich, dark compote of black fruit laced with raspberry and chocolate.
Felton Road’s “entry-level” Pinot is better than many producers’ top-end bottlings, and priced accordingly. The blend of sour and black cherries combines cola, cocoa and thyme notes with deep earthy flavors and a silky texture. Drink now and over the next few years.
We feel very fortunate to have this top quality, highly-allocated Pinot from New Zealand in stock. The wine is impeccably balanced, with a complex range of exotic aromas, and flavors of concentrated dark cherry, mocha, and brown sugar spice harmoniously wrapped in a soft, silky texture.
