Felsina Classico 2007
External Reviews for Felsina Classico
The 2007 Chianti Classico is a sweet, super-ripe wine with an enticing core of fruit. The heat of the vintage has filled out the wine nicely. Although the acidity is still relatively high, this doesn't look to be an especially long-lived wine. That should hardly matter, though, as readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this gem. In 2007 the Chianti Classico is a selection of fruit from eleven different vineyards harvested between the end of September and early October. The wine was mostly aged in cask, with about 10% seeing smaller neutral French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
Tuscany, ItalyFelsina Chianti Classico is a beautiful wine from this famous appellation of Tuscany. Fattoria di Felsina has long been one of the great names in Tuscany. Based in the Chianti Classico region, Felsina produces one of the finest ranges of ageworthy and complex Chianti bottlings. Unlike many of their neighbors, Felsina has never succumbed to the temptation to produce "new age" wines blended with Cabernet or Merlot. Felsina wines are classic Chianti, 100% Sangiovese grapes from vines 50 years or older located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, northeast of Siena. Antonio Galloni for Wine Advocate rated this red wine gem 89 points and predicted that "readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this gem." Good luck!Felsina Chianti Classico is deep ruby red in color with a beautiful nose of wild red berries, plums, spices and violets. Medium in body with moderate acidity and silky tannins, this red offers flavors of black cherry, blackberry and mocha, with well integrated sweet oak. Aged for 12 months in small and medium oak casks, it is nicely balanced to enjoy now or to cellar for 5-6 years. The finish is rich, long and polished.Enjoy Felsina Chianti Classico with veal, pasta, osso bucco, and aged cheeses.
Lavender and blackberry aromas follow through to a medium-to-full body with a solid core of fruit and a tangy aftertaste of citrus fruit and dried cherry. Best after 2009. 90 Points -Wine Spectator
Dark ruby in color. This is a very enjoyable and quaffable chianti. Very well balanced, notes of nice bright red fruits: cranberry, cherry, and raspberry. Subtle oak is also present as well as nice spice and some smooth, chalky tanins that add som... John Sweeney. A Sangiovese wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2007 Fattoria di Felsina Chianti Classico 750ml
