This aged wine hits most of the right keys. It’s sexy and racy on the bouquet, with tobacco, orange peel, rooty cherry and tree bark aromas. It’s a bit sharp and lean in the mouth at this point, with flavors of tomato, raisin, dry berry, cocoa and spice. Gets more acidic as it sits. Drink or hold.

Dark red. Pungent, oak-spiced aromas of dried red fruits, vanilla and rose, with a cedary overtone. Smooth and sweet, with vibrant redcurrant and cherry-vanilla flavors given depth by notes of licorice and bitter chocolate. Closes with gentle tannic grip and very good length, leaving smoke and cherry compote notes behind.
Winemaker's notes: Grape Varieties90% Tempranillo; 10% Mazuelo and Graciano VinificationIt is aged 2-3 years in oak casks and is refined in bottle for 4 years prior to its release. ColorIntens
Winemaker's Notes:
Faustino I Gran Reserva, the most recognized Gran Reserva from DO Rioja, is clean, bright, and ruby-colored with brick rims. On the nose, it is deep and complex with light spice notes and ripe-fruit hints and expressing it long aging background with very light leather notes. On the mouth, it is velvety, soft, round, and well-balanced, ending with long aftertaste from the very long aging in wood. One out of three bottles of the Gran Reserva DO Rioja comes from our cellars.
Tasting Notes:
One of the classic producers of Rioja Gran Reserva is still crafting proud examples from the traditionalist school. The nose is of mushrooms, old barrels, and dried and concentrated fruits-- the smells that only time in a cellar can provide. The mouth is far more fruity, showing red and bing cherries and cranberries, but the character of barrel aging that defines Gran Reserva remains, alongside herbal notes of green tobacco, herbs, and cardamom.
700 produced.
Aged 26 months in American Oak.
Aged 26 months in French Oak.
Notes: 26 months in American and French oak barrels
