Fattoria Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

"Uccelliera is now without question one of the handful of top producers in Montalcino." Wine Advocate "Proprietor Andrea Cortonesi fashions big, full-bodied wines from his vineyards in the southern part of the zone. This is a very strong set of releases from a producer who represents *the finest of the artisan approach to making wines in Montalcino*." Wine Advocate"Very floral, with dark fruits and sandalwood aromas. Full body, with silky tannins and a fruity, tangy finish. The balance and finesse for a wine with wonderful depth is impressive." jamesuckling.com

The nose was classic and earthy with ripe red berries, soil and minerals. On the palate, it was lean yet focused with strawberry and cedar box. It appeared smaller in scale than most of the ‘07s I’d tasted yet finessed, pure and likely able to mature into something beautiful. The finish was long, showing massive structure.

This intense red is on the racy side, with vibrant acidity and entrenched tannins supporting the floral, cherry, licorice and spice aromas and flavors. Plays out gracefully on the palate, with a lingering finish. Best from 2014 through 2024.

Very floral, with dark fruits and sandalwood aromas. Full body, with silky tannins and a fruity, tangy finish. The balance and finesse for a wine with wonderful depth is impressive. Try in 2015. Good medium red. Expressive, inviting aromas of plum, tobacco, leather and smoky underbrush; very sangiovese. Silky on entry, then plush but fresh in the middle, with a perfumed quality and a coiled spring to its red fruit flavors. Finishes firmly tannic, gripping and long, with excellent lift and a noble rusticity to the red fruit and leather flavors. Shows the 2007 to its best advantage, and is built for a good 12 to 15 years of aging.
