Fattoria la Lecciaia Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Manapetra 2011

External Review:

Single vineyard Brunello di Montalcinos are the most select and rare of this elite breed of Italian wines. This is a very rare single vineyard Riserva from the accomplished Fattoria la Lecciaia. This hillside vineyard is selected because it receives the best exposure of all the vineyards on the estate and consistently produces the highest quality fruit. In the amazing 2010 vintage this was so true that they were able to bottle a regular Brunello Manapetra and also this Riserva. The wine was carefully vinified and aged in large oak casks for more than two years. This impressive wine shows why Brunello is Italy’s most prestigious appellation. It is a deeply layered and complex wine with intermingling cherry, toasted almond, tobacco and leather nuances, an outstanding success. James Suckling scored this wine 96 points and said “Very tight and refined with beautiful spicy, dark fruit and dried mushroom character. Full and savory. Some iodine and salt character. Drink or hold." And what's truly amazing about this wine is the price!
