Fattoria Galardi Terra di Lavoro 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

The wine is deep purple in color with a smoky, earthy nose that shows tobacco, lead pencil and graphite. Black cherry fruit, tobacco and leather come through on the palate of this big, full-bodied wine. Firm tannins insure that this wine will last.

This wine has a deep, inky ruby color and compelling aromas of smoky dark fruit, ash, tobacco and minerals. The palate is powerfully structured and layered with bold flavors that have an impressive enduring finish. Robust components are beginning to integrate and the wine should continue to improve for the next 5 years.

A very rare wine from Italy's Campania region. Terra di Lavoro has been a collectors dream since it first appeared in the late '90's. The 2005 Terra di Lavoro is a blend of 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso aged in new oak barrels. The Wine Advocate scored it 93 points and said “The 2005 Terra di Lavoro is a beauty. This massively structured, imposing blend of 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso bursts from the glass with a compelling array of smoke, ash, graphite, underbrush and black cherries. Layered, sweet and powerful, it reveals notable depth as well as persistence. While it is not profound as is the 2004, it will likely come around sooner. That is of course in relative terms given that Terra di Lavoro has proven to be a very slow-maturing wine. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025.” not sponsored by or affiliated with The Wine Advocate. The wine is deep purple in color with smoky, earthy aromas and hints of tobacco and graphite. Notes of ripe black cherries, cassis, tobacco and leather come through on the palate of this big- structured, full-bodied wine.

Tiefdunkle, satte Farbe. Unbedingt einige Jahre reifen lassen.
