At Italian dinner in Tokyo, September 2009. Color thick, dense garnet. Hints of spice, tobacco, flowers on the nose, Extremely well balanced, with very good length, acidity and well-knit tannins. Minerality was surprisingly elegant, as were its dark fruit characteristics. Almost a feminine nature. I hadn't remembered having the wine before, but when it entered my glass, and I smelled and tasted it, I flashed back to a time in Florence at the beginning of this decade when I had an earlier vintage.
Fruity and powdery/grainy. Nice complexity and a little on the tangy side.
Dusty sweet red fruits, saw dust and barnyard on the nose. On the palate i found strawberry fruit and fig with minerals and herbs. It was at one soft yet drying with fine tannins. A good bottle that should be even better with time.
Clear ruby red in color. Earthy mineral and pepper on the nose. Tart cherry, red berries and spice. Nice Chianti.
No tasting notes but we all enjoyed this wine at our last tasting
Dirty mineral nose. Very light tannins, medium acid and body. Red cherry, minerals, medium concentration, interesting! Not just a food quaffer like typical Chianti. $20
Excellent Chianti. Nice structure, not too heavy. Good fruit, but somewhat tangy at the end. A very nice bottle of wine for less than $20.

Opaque with a dark brooding nose. Great, if somewhat hidden, depth of fruit and excellent balance: the fruit-acid-tannin triangle is textbook perfect. Very tight now, this is a keeper for sure. Try to avoid touching it for three to five years. Some day it will drink like a $50 bottle. Will keep till 2015.
Johannisbeeren, Kirschen, Vanille, voller Körper, reife, feine Tannine, langer, fruchtiger Abgang. In seiner Jugend eher verschlossen.
Deep, attractive ruby red colour. Elegantly fruity nose, with marked scents of wild red berries foregrounding nuances of mixed spices. The palate, too, shows excellent fruit supported by judicious tannins. Lengthy finish.
Tuscany, ItalyFelsina Chianti Classico Riserva is a gorgeous wine from this famous appellation of Tuscany. Fattoria di Felsina has long been one of the great names in Tuscany. Based in the Chianti Classico region, Felsina produces one of the finest ranges of ageworthy and complex Chianti bottlings. Unlike many of their neighbors, Felsina has never succumbed to the temptation to produce "new age" wines blended with Cabernet or Merlot. Felsina wines are classic Chianti, 100% Sangiovese. The Riserva is made from vines 50 years or older. Antonio Galloni for Wine Advocate rated this red wine gem 91+ points, saying it "possesses wonderful depth in its black cherries, licorice, tar, smoke and leather. This is a relatively muscular vintage for the Riserva with firm yet well integrated tannins and an authoritative finish." If only we had more of it to offer!Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva is deep ruby red in color with a beautiful nose of dark cherries, plums, berries, spices and violets. Medium-full in body with moderate acidity and silky tannins, this red offers flavors of black cherry, blackberry and mocha, with well integrated sweet oak. Aged for 12 months in small and medium oak casks, it is nicely balanced to enjoy now or to cellar for 7-8 years. The finish is rich, long and polished.Enjoy Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva with veal, pasta, osso bucco, and aged cheeses.
Lots of dried cherry and crushed black fruit, with polished leather and mineral notes. Medium-bodied, with good acidity on the palate, well-integrated tannins and a well-balanced and fresh finish. Give it a little time in bottle. Best after 2002 through 2005.
Light garnet. Stunning cherry nose complicated by hints of cedar, tar and vanilla. Deeply extracted flavors of licorice and espresso, along with the characteristic earthy, tarry undertones that one has come to expect from this property. Medium-to-full-bodied, with ample but ripe tannins and a long finish. A fine Chianti from a consistent producer.
