First, I must note that this gin is NOT from Scotland-- it hails from Minnesota, in the American heartland, which is why I bought a bottle (in the interests of keeping my carbon footprint small). I'm cringing my way through the bottle, regretting the purchase: horribly high proof, for one thing, and though I saw the 93 on the bottle, I was seduced by the promise of elderflower and lemongrass (neither of which are discernible to my nose), and assumed they would have a softening effect. If they're really in there, they don't. The predominant aroma I get is rubbing alcohol-- yes, that old familiar fragrance from the doctor's office, when they brandished the thermometer at you, straight out of the jar of alcohol. Plymouth (80º) is my first choice, and Beefeater my everyday stock-- also a lower proof product. I can't imagine this Farmer's in a Martini, unless it were combined with at least an equal amount of vermouth. Really a terrible disappointment in every way!
This Gin is incredible! Martini, or Gin & Tonic, even straight!
