Fanucchi Zinfandel Russian River Valley Old Vine Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard 2002

Still a very nice bottle of wine. It's not as big as Fanucchi's 2004 or the 2005 but it never was. Firm tannins and good ripe blackberry cherry flavors. It is still holding to a nice purple color.

The Fanucchi Vienyards 2002 Old Vine Zinfandel is still fresh!

I recall this being a real nice bright zinfandel

When my family and I discovered Fanucchi Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel, we originally “fell in love with” the 2002 and we have been buying it online directly from Fanucchi for some time. (They have generous quantity discounts AND Free over night shipping!) As the “Library” 2002 was finally running low we purchased a combination two case package of library vintages and their current 2005 release. … In total we had the 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005. –Amazingly Fanucchi offers combination library packages at a discount! Every one of these wines is a delight! The ’01 & ’99 were always considered Fanucchi’s lighter vintages so we were not expecting much out of these 10+ year old zinfandels but they are still sound, have good color and refreshing fruit. The bigger ’00 & ’02 also still have a nice balance of ripe fruit & pepper -as I said the ’02 has long been our favorite. The ’04 & ’05 are the biggest of them all: especially the 2005 it has endless layers of every fruit & spice you’d traditionally expect from a balanced Zinfandel – Clearly Fanucchi pushed things up a few notches with these later vintages but they are as balanced as ever still don’t have any hint of being “over done”- just hitting a greater Zenith. I highly recommend stocking up on the 2005 and trying some of their library wines while they are available!

Tasted the vertical they had at ZAP '09 last week. This '02 was Beautiful! It still has great Zinfandel fruit & yummy tannins. Great now & a couple of more years!

Fanucchi's 2004 & 2005 are much bigger, bolder, & concentrated than this 2002 but, it's still a very nice bottle of wine.
