I cannot believe that this wine is only $29 a bottle! This 2001 Old Vine Zin comes from Peter Fanucchi's vineyards, where the family has farmed since 1906, and the pedigree shows here in this wonderful wine. The nose is all deep dark fruit, blackberries and spice. The flavor continues the blackberry spice flavors, with a big emphasis on the berry and currant notes and just a light touch of spice. After finishing a glass, I realized that I was still tasting the finish for an amazingly long time. A great offering from Peter Fanucchi, it is clear his wines age very well! Buy it and try it!

In a blind tasting not knowing Fanucchi Vineyards you might guess this to be a 2005 or 2006! The fruit is a classic ripe raspberry with those deep smooth Old Vine Zinfandel tannins. This is a great all around wine at or near it’s peak. Most of what’s left is on sale while it lasts!
