Very nice Paso cab. Big fruit, nice tannins, long finish, not over the top jammy but just spicy enough and big enough to stand on its own.
Plum, blackberry, black cherry, noticeable oak in the nose. Softer fruit in the mouth -- plum, black cherry, blackberry. It needed to aerate and burn off the unpleasant alcohol aromas and flavors. After aerating, the aromas and flavors opened up and included some lavender and herbs. Not too interesting, but very drinkable now.
Fantastic everyday Cab. No real subtly but bold fruit and a chewy mouthfeel.
My wife and I rate this wine 5 out of 5 glasses, for being one of the tastiest $10 bottles of wine we've ever had, period. Rich, complex, fruity, smoky, velvety. Better than dozens of other wines we've tried that were three-to-five times more expensive. An absolute gem.
I have only seen this sold at Trader Joe's. I was looking for a bottle to bring over to my friend's house (who is a white wine type gal; I'm a red). I ended up buying this to bring over and we both loved it. It is a GREAT wine in my opinion. I actually recommended it to a stranger in TJ's. I can't believe it's only $9.99.
This cab will surprise you when you taste it! Pour this one into a carafe and let it breath to find the complexity that will arrive. Dark fruit with just the right amount of oak for an every day drinking experience.
Let it breathe for a couple of hours first and you will be in bold cherry heaven! Off to buy up a case of what is barely left at my neighborhood TJ's!
